Candlestick Park Information:
Monster Park is located in San Francisco, California, and is among the oldest venues in the NFL. Construction of this stadium started in 1958, and it opened for business two years later in April of 1960. But although Monster Park is getting old, fans and players still enjoy what it has to offer. Although the future of the stadium is up in the air, until something is figured out it will go about its business like usual.
The San Francisco 49ers of the NFL are the primary tenant of Monster Park. They began playing there in 1971, and have been doing so ever since. The San Francisco Giants of MLB also played at Monster Park for many years, but moved out after the 1999 season.
The seating capacity of Monster Park is 70,207. This is a large venue by NFL standards, and goes a long way in making for a great fan atmosphere. In addition to plenty of seats, the long history of the stadium also makes it quite popular. Many people still refer to this venue as Candlestick Park; the name that it went by from 1960 to 1995.
Monster Park may not be around for much longer, but this does not seem to bother anybody. It is safe to say that 49ers fans will show up no matter where their team is playing!
